August 19, 2016Book Discussion: Evangelical Exodus by Dr. Douglas Beaumont, Ph.D. This wonderful book describes the decision of evangelical Protestant seminarians and faculty at Southern Evangelical Seminary in North Carolina to leave their studies and careers to join the Catholic Church. Why? The book offers the conversion stories of a number these men and women and their concerns: the nature of the Biblical canon, the identification of Christian orthodoxy and problems with the Protestant tradition that holds to the doctrines of “sola scriptura” (scripture alone) and “sola fide” (faith alone). The discussion group will meet on Tuesdays, 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at the rectory, beginning September 27. The book costs $18.00. Sign-up sheets are available after Mass this weekend. Please understand that if you sign up you will be charged for the book whether you attend or not.
