The ministry of serving at the altar is being expanded to adult males. As Rick Anderson pointed out at last Sunday Masses the parish wishes to open the ministry of serving at the altar to adult males. The ancient Church never allowed boys to serve. It was considered an adult male responsibility, and still is in cathedral parishes, at the Vatican, in the Eastern Churches in communion with the Church of Rome and in the Orthodox Churches. While I am very proud of the young boys and young men who serve with reverence, and look forward to training a new group this coming September, I would like to expand this ministry to the adult guys as well.
