Adult Faith Formation Classes being offered. At this point the following classes shall be offered. Days and times have yet to be fully worked out. We hope to have all the details finalized by the middle of August when we will post sign-up / registration sheets.
Bible Study: the Gospel of John, 21 sessions (September to early February, 2016). We will be using the Ignatius Catholic Bible Study text. Cost: $13.00 for the book. Bible Study: the Letter to the Hebrews, 13 sessions (February 2016 to May 2016). We will be using the Ignatius Catholic Bible Study text. Cost: $13.00 for the book. Book Study: “Forming Intentional Disciples; the Path to Knowing and Following Jesus.” The book offers wonderful insight into the challenges presented to the Catholic Church in our nation. The focus, however, is on how to transform a parish. Participants will be required to purchase the book at $16.00, which the parish can arrange to get in bulk. The parish will pay for the workbook ($3.00) for each participant.
“Symbolon”: 20 sessions. Produced by the St. Augustine Institute, this is an excellent video presentation with opportunity for group discussion on the basics of our Faith. This is ideal for those who wish to have their basic understandings of the Faith refreshed and re-energized. It is also appropriate for those who are either curious about what the Church teaches or considering joining the Church.
Religious Liberty in America. This course is offered through the Wyoming Catholic College (WCC). It will be either live-streamed or in a DVD format. The course description provided by WCC states that FR. PETE (cont.) “It is an in-depth look into the history of religious liberty and how it shaped the founding and history of the American Republic. There are six sessions: (1) Introduction: Religion, the State and the Bible, (2) A Pinch of Incense: the Roman Empire and the Early Christians, (3) Broken Uniformity: the Middle Ages, Christendom and the Reformation, (4) Early Experiment: Rhode Island, Maryland and Pennsylvania, (5) Religion and the Founding Fathers: Understanding Jefferson and Madison through Carroll, (6) We the People: Government, Guarantees and Politics as Usual. Presenters are Dr. Kevin Roberts, President of WCC and professor of American history; and Dr. James Tonkowich, a theologian and author of “The Liberty Threat: the Attack on Religious Liberty in American Today.”
“Catholicism.” 10 sessions. This is an excellent overview of the richness of Catholic theology. Produced by Fr. Frank Barron it uses culture, art, scripture and 2,000 years of theological reflection to show the beauty and power of our Faith that all people are called to participate in. The course includes a free workbook for participants. This will take place in Kaycee.
