A fantastic opportunity for our high school youth is offered through our Diocesan Youth Office. The Diocese of Cheyenne pastoral ministries office is coordinating a group of 30 youth and 8 adults to attend the “One Bread, One Cup” leadership conference at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, June 27 to July 1, in St. Meinrad, Indiana.
“One Bread, One Cup” is a five-day liturgical leadership conference focusing on the Word, Sacrament and Mission of the Roman Catholic Church for high school youth groups and their campus and youth ministers. Conferences focus on community building, leadership development, catechesis, liturgical and spiritual formation, and theological reflection There are opportunities for personal prayer and contemplation, liturgical prayer, charity and action, and vocational discernment while living and actively participating in an intentional Christian community.
At the conferences, youth and adults discover the Church’s treasures of Word, Sacrament and Mission and enjoy opportunities for fellowship and fun through team building, outdoor recreation, a variety show and a dance. Participants come to appreciate the Benedictine balance of prayer, work and recreation.” The conference is open to 8th to 11th graders who are interested in not only growing in their Catholic Faith, but who also have a desire to serve their local parishes through the different liturgical ministries and catechesis.
Each parish that sends youth participants is also encouraged to send an adult who is active within the parish and will be a strong advocate for integrating their participants back into the life of the parish. (The number of adults we can take is restricted to 1 for every 3 to 4 youth). The total cost is $960 per participant. This includes registration, flight, transportation and meals. Through a generous grant from the Wyoming Catholic Ministries Foundation, we are able to offer every participant a $425 scholarship, leaving a balance of $530 per participant. We are asking each parish to make a $200 participant commitment to those attending, leaving a $330 per participant balance. [Fr. Pete will offer $300 per participant, reducing the balance to $230].
Applications for both youth and adults are at the parish office. These must be sent to the Diocese no later than February 26 with a $100 deposit per participant. For all the information you need for you and your parents to make an informed decision, please contact the parish office. You will be given a full handout describing this wonderful opportunity and the applications for both youth and adults.
